Lost site on update 3.0.4 to 3.0.7Pl (Re-installed)

Post by amoun »

On the final stage (to recheck the files were updated) the whole website disappeared, just a blank screen. I cannot access even the install folder by browser:

Firefox says: end of document in prolog ( have used index.php backup, no different)
Install folder error file says: PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare set_config_count() (previously declared in /home/rogerlov/public_html/soapbox/includes/functions.php:171) in /home/rogerlov/public_html/soapbox/includes/functions.php on line 228

Any ideas or I may have to install from scratch and lose a few mods etc.

EDIT 1: OK just replaced the [includes/functions.php] with backup and I have the site back. Will now check the file ????

EDIT 2: Strange? There isn't a file [includes/functions.php] in the updates file to FTP

EDIT 3: Nope! It's gone again. So could it be somehting in the database or a hack?

So what is the existing issue? And how did you update? What method?

I used the automatic update,(checked/modified/downloaded newfiles/unziped them and FTP'd) Then I was asked to check them again and everything went white.

EDIT 1: Ok I have the install folder back online, using the previous [includes/functions.php] but not the site.

I'm starting the update process again, funny it still says the database is 3.0.4 although I had already updated that succesfully. Oh well on we go

EDIT 2: can't go any further as it says all the files are uptodate: I suppose it just checks the date

I can only access the default page when the install folder is still there. I can login from there even a second time for admin, but there's no site.

Seems like there's a problem with a style maybe,

I still do not understand what the problem is. Doing again what you already did will not fix anything.

Do you have any MODs?

Hi Steve

Only one mod in the [posting.php] file, which shouldn't get called initially

EDIT 1: I'm replacing the prosilver style On removinf it at least I got a screen saying it couldn't find the style:

EDIT 2: A bit slow here as I live in the sticks and there's only dial-up, around 33.6K
Nope! Replacing the style didn't work. I'm back to a blank screen

Since you only have one MOD which will be easily replaced I suggest a complete file replacement.

*NOTE: Before proceeding backup all files and the database.*
  • Upload all new files from a download of the full version, except for config.php, the /images and /files folders.
  • Go to yoursite.com/forumfolder/install/database_update.php
  • Let that run and then delete the install folder.
  • You now have a new up to date board containing all your users and posts but without any MODs that you might have had installed.

OK as previous post. This issue was not resolved and it was easier to reinstall a new 3.0.7
To ensure I deleted all old files and uploaded the current version.

Thanks Folks
