Hi there, please do take note of our rules page. We ask you wait six hours before bumping your support topic. Please be patient as all here are volunteers.
Adding a subforum is the same as adding a forum, only that you set the forum you want it to reside within as the "parent." Happy to provide more details if necessary!

There is no such thing as an actual "subforum" in phpBB. Every forum is simply a forum, however, you specify which "parent" you would like for the newly created forum to fall under.

Board
---Category 1 (no parent)
-----Forum 1 (parent Category 1)
-------Sub-forum (parent Forum 1)
etc

Thank you Darcie and Adam.

@Darcie I know that one should wait for 6 hours before bumping our topic but I could not wait as it was very urgent.

Extremely sorry for violating the rules.

One question I want to ask is that how do I align subforums one below the other. There are many subforums in my forum and they are arranged horizontally. I want them to get arranged vertically

Try this. Using a plain-text editor such as Notepad++, open includes/functions_display.php and find:

(around line 426)

Code: Select all

		foreach ($subforums_list as $subforum)
		{
			$s_subforums_list[] = '<a href="' . $subforum['link'] . '" class="subforum ' . (($subforum['unread']) ? 'unread' : 'read') . '" title="' . (($subforum['unread']) ? $user->lang['NEW_POSTS'] : $user->lang['NO_NEW_POSTS']) . '">' . $subforum['name'] . '</a>';
		}
Replace with:

Code: Select all

		foreach ($subforums_list as $subforum)
		{
			$s_subforums_list[] = '<a href="' . $subforum['link'] . '" class="subforum ' . (($subforum['unread']) ? 'unread' : 'read') . '" title="' . (($subforum['unread']) ? $user->lang['NEW_POSTS'] : $user->lang['NO_NEW_POSTS']) . '">' . $subforum['name'] . '</a><br />';
		}
Save and reupload the file. Purge the board's cache from the main page of the ACP.

I haven't tested this, but it should work. :)
