Some advice on Databases

Post by Scotty501 » Mon Aug 09, 2010 8:54 am

Hi All,

Not sure if this falls into PHP - but I hope some of your experience people out there can give me some advice. I want to build a database online that users can upload via csv, xls etc and also search the same data. Just an online DB that users and use. Is this something that can be done utilising a phpbb? Ideally the users on my board can just upload the data, and also search the data.

Any advice?

No.

Make sure you you understand the difference between PHP (the scripting language),
and phpBB (the Bulletin Board program written in PHP).

There is no facility in phpBB to do what you ask, and I doubt there is a MOD to do it either.

Thks for the reply. OK I will need to go external from PHP(BB) - which is a shame. It would have been nice to keep it under the same umbrella.

You may be able to do that. You can request a MOD in the MOD Requests forum.
