Restore from Backup Error

Post by easternanglers » Wed Oct 06, 2010 10:13 am

Apologies if this is an old chestnut , but can't find it on the search facility , so here goes.

Trying to do a system restore from a backed up file and I'm getting the following error message

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in E:\domains\e\easternanglers.net\user\htdocs\includes\acp\acp_database.php on line 2306

Any help would be appreciated

Cheers, Neil

Use this to restore your database:

Bigdump

I appreciate the link , but it looks a bit above me. I don't suppose you know if there is an easier way as I now have a dead forum. Or if you fancy having a go for me I could supply the admin password.

Thanks Neil

Is your database backup done from phpBB's ACP? Then BigDump won't work anyway as it doesn't support extended inserts.

The back up was done from within ACP and you're right bigdump doesn't work.

I get this error

FastCGI Error

The FastCGI Handler was unable to process the request.
Error Details:

The FastCGI process exceeded configured activity timeout
Error Number: 258 (0x80070102).
Error Description: The wait operation timed out.
HTTP Error 500 - Server Error.
Internet Information Services (IIS)

What is the point of having a back up facility that doesn't back up I'm wondering.

Anybody got any ideas please as I've got 700 users biting my ankles ?

It's not a phpbb issue, you need to ask your host to allow more time.

Is this something they would be familiar with ? or will an explanation of the issue suffice do you reckon.

Just explain the error
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in E:\domains\e\easternanglers.net\user\htdocs\includes\acp\acp_database.php on line 2306
and ask if they could allow more time.

Dear Bisi,

Thanks for contacting us with your support enquiry.

What happened here was, your website reached the limitations of our shared hosting platform. You are trying to achieve an application server wich is not allowed on our end. That is the very reason your scripts are experiencing execution time limit. Unfortunately, it is not possible to change the preconfigured execution limit on our shared hosting server.

This is because:
>it may adversely affect the stability of our servers
> it may use up significant resources
> it may adversely affect security
>
> All components are deployed across all servers to ensure a consistent shared hosting environment.

I was trying out a mod and it didn't work, so I tried to restore from the back up I had made that morning before I started and it ran for the 30 seconds and partially populated the forum. Everything from Oct 2009 has loaded but any amendments after that aren't showing.

Form completed

Please describe your problem. I was trying to load the MChat mod and it failed. I had before hand backed up the site so I tried to restore from the back up file and it hung after 30 seconds with a timeout error message:

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in E:\domains\e\easternanglers.net\user\htdocs\includes\acp\acp_database.php on line 2306

The result is that it has partially populated the forum with data up to Oct 2009.

Discussion around my problem can be seen here

http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... &t=2106356

I have contacted my host who has said they can not extend the timeout to give the restore more time to finish.

Have you ask your host if they will restore the database for you?
