STMP Mail Error

Hello,

I recently started using phpbb and my hosting provider noes not allow the php mail funtion.
I tried using the stmp mail funtion, but it gives me this every time

You will need to ask your host what the proper SMTP settings are.

You will need to ask your host what the proper SMTP settings are.

The mail account is a hotmail account, so I put in those settings and did not work. I don't think the provider of hosting should make a difference.

You would need to ask your SMTP host what settings you are supposed to use.
I doubt you would be able to use a Hotmail account for SMTP connections from another website.
