Can't click smilies, BBC, etc...

Hello there! Members on my forum are having an issue. Well some members. I'm not as well as others. Anyways the problem is that they cannot click on the smilies or BBC codes. and cannot see the font colors on the side. It gives them an error.. "error in page". The only change to the forum has been that it was shortly upgraded to 3.0.8 before they got the error. There are no mods on the forum of any kind. I'm really stumped with this one.

That's sounds like a Javascript error. What is the URL of your board which this is happening on?

I can make a test account if need be. Not everyone is getting the error though is what perplexes me. I don't know why the lot of them would have java turned off. But I guess anything is possible.

are the ones affected using a different style than the ones not affected?

there were some style changes in 3.0.8 that might cause this if they were not done to the style being used.

Thank you so much. That is the problem. I didn't realize because I don't use the default. If the default has been updated to 3.0.8 then a newer install of the default style should resolve the problem, correct?

well, the default styles that come with phpbb ( prosilver and subsilver2 ) are updated when the rest of the files are updated.

if your "default" style is not one of those then yes, you need to update it.

basically, any style that anyone is using that is not up to date will have these problems.

I'm sorry to bump this back up since it's checked as resolved. I got in contact with the owner of the board (since I lack FTP accesss) and he said that he updated the style to 3.0.8 when he upgraded the forum to 3.0.8. So my original problem persists.

Where can I check that the style is indeed updated to 3.0.8. I used to do a lot of mods last year and I remember seeing version numbers somewhere in the files but I can't remember where now.

And if it was updated as he said then what else could be causing the problem?

you can look in the style.cfg file in the style folder.

And why not? Sure, I don't have FTP access but I know far more about Phpbb3 than the owner. All I have to do is email him what to do and he can follow through. It's not like I don't know where and what the files look like. I've ran my own phpbb 3 forum for years.

As for the style.cfg I downloaded the style that I directed him to download and upload. It only said this:

name = eTech
copyright = © 2007-2010 ST Software
version = 2.0.5

However, on the site where it's from it says it is compatible with 3.0.8 and earlier.

Oh boy I failed the captcha so many times I couldn't make a new account. But then I remembered I have a test account already made from long ago. So here it is:

Username: Serenity
Password: apples34

The problem (as far as I know) only happens on the default style.
