PMs remaining unread

A member has reported that even though he's read all his messages, at the top of the screen it keeps telling him he's got 1 unread messages. After received 2 new messages and reading them, he tells me it now tells him he's got 2 unread messages. No other members have reported a problem, and it seems to be working fine for me as well.

Is this something that can easily be cleared or reset, or is it likely a database problem?

You would have to reset it in the database for that user. Set their "user_new_privmsg" and "user_unread_privmsg" fields to 0.

I've reset them both to 0. Strangely enough it did not fix it.

When I looked at his setting after he had received a few more messages and read them, they were:

user_new_privmsg = 0 and user_unread_privmsg = 2

Does that make any sense?

According the member, these settings are consistant with what he's seeing...2 unread messages, but he cannot find them...

How can this not be working properly just for one member???

Is the user's PM Index full? If so, they would have to delete some messages, and then click the link to release the ones that went into the overflow bin.
