You don't want me answering that.
cubicdesign wrote:My idea is to let only the legit users to find the registration page/method. So, only if legit users will know the registration's form link then I will keep the bots away while allowing legit users to post almost instantly (after a <5 seconds long registration session).
How are the 'legit' users going to know what to type in to get to the registration page?

I put the link in special places (in my software for example).

Cubic, if you follow the guide i linked above, you can create a question like "whats the nickname of the owner" or "paste the password from index.php (or elsewhere)"

and just human should aswer. Quick and easy.

One question with one answer is plenty.

Cubic, your method is hugely labor intensive, ignores the way bots actually work, and is completely unnecessary, since existing methods are 100% effective. So, bad idea.

Cubic,

if you wanna try, go to ucp.php and find

Code: Select all

case 'register'
in line subs 'register' to anything you want to (????).

then go to 'overal header' ou something like this in your template and delete the hyperlink to regitration.

after that just type to your guests

"if you wanna register go to example.com/ucp.php?mode=????" but it must not be a hyperlink.

After all tell us if spam stops of not.

***
In our fórum anonymous users can 'see' everything (almost) now. The username "convidado" was giving a lot of "outs" from google guests.

But

we have, right now, 7 known bots and 4 unknown bots and just 3 users logged in

Um abraço a todos
prof

This code change won't work completely because it won't change the links to the registration page.

There has already been someone who has done this though (and got it working), see this post in Preventing Spam in phpBB 3.0.5 and Lower. ATNO/TW has confirmed that this code change will still work in phpBB 3.0.8 (and will most likely work in phpBB 3.0.9 as well).

Again, all unnecessary. If you want an invitation-only spambot-proof board, use the Q&A thus:

Q: Type in the registration code

A: g6%Sx9)

Then, send the code to those you want to register.
