How to stop a user being sent emails?

Post by fabius »

A user on my board has an email address that no longer works. They've subscribed to a lot of active topics, and they're being notified about new posts by email. I've PMed them asking them to update their email address, but they haven't done so (I don't know why yet).

Is there a way I can stop these emails being sent to the user?

Thanks.

sql-commands:
replace phpbb by the table prefix from your board and 999 by the user_id of the user
delete from phpbb_topic_watch where user_id = 999
delete from phpbb_forum_watch where user_id = 999
update phpbb_users set user_notify = 0, user_notify_pm = 0 where user_id = 999

Great, many thanks for that!

I guess that if I just want to turn off the emails I could just do the third command and leave the topic/forum watches in place?

BTW, small typo: two of the table names are slightly different: phpbb_topics_watch and phpbb_forums_watch.

Thanks again.

Yes, but the cron.php has to check a lot more subscriptions and therefore maybe consume more ressources and time, so if the user has a lot of subscriptions it will be a good idea to remove them when you disable the notifications
