SQL Error when posting large amount of IMG's

Post by Kemmish » Tue Apr 10, 2012 1:14 pm

Hi all, this has been annoying me for a while now and i cant seem to fix it.. so i have come here hoping that you clever people can help.. 8-)

I own http://www.sw-pc.com which is a local car forum and we hold track days each month etc. and i like to go out and take HUNDRES of photos and post them up in one long post for all to see..

Years ago this worked ok, but now i keep getting the error below when i try to post up lots of IMG's in one post..

Code: Select all

General Error

SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]

MySQL server has gone away [2006]

SQL

SELECT topic_type, forum_id FROM phpbb_topics WHERE topic_id = 0

BACKTRACE

FILE: [ROOT]/includes/db/mysql.php
LINE: 175
CALL: dbal->sql_error()

FILE: [ROOT]/posting.php
LINE: 1004
CALL: dbal_mysql->sql_query()
I am running
Database server: MySQL 5.0.92-community-log & Board version: 3.0.10 if that helps.

I have no idea on what the error means, i know very little when it comes to this.

Can anyone shed some light on what is wrong or what i can do to fix this?

Thanks again.

Are you attaching the images or embedding them or linking them?

Although I am not sure whether or how this might affect your error, I note that your style version is 3.0.6, but your board version is 3.0.10. Board version and style version must match.

As a test, please switch to prosilver and see if you can duplicate the error. I am also puzzled as to why there is a reference to a topic id of 0, since the lowest topic id should be 1.

If the style switch does not help, post back and please fill out the Support Request Template Generator and post it back here to enable us to assist you better.

No idea on how to change the "topic ID" from 0 to 1

This may be because when logged in I have a "hidden" Forum that only 2 people can view and that is password protected that i dont want anyone else to see. ? would that explain that issue?

I have completed the form (Should of done it sooner, sorry)

Hope this sheds some light on some next steps...

Please describe your problem. When i try to post lots of images to one single post it errors out and gives a error

Code: Select all

    General Error
    SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]

    MySQL server has gone away [2006]

    SQL

    SELECT topic_type, forum_id FROM phpbb_topics WHERE topic_id = 0

    BACKTRACE

    FILE: includes/db/mysql.php
    LINE: 175
    CALL: dbal->sql_error()

    FILE: posting.php
    LINE: 1004
    CALL: dbal_mysql->sql_query()

This is when i am trying to post up maybe 50 or more "[IMG]" Tags from photobucket for example.

I have tried it in "prosilver" and it just spends 10+ mins saying "connecting to http://www.sw-pc.com" and never changes screen.

Do you have a maximum image width or height set in the ACP under Post Settings?

Sorry. Should of mentioned I have been through the ACP and turned all settings up such as limit on amount of words and picture size is 2600pixelsx2600pixels.

My pictures are 1024x768.

Thanks for your help. Any other suggestions?

Set those back to 0. It has to go look up the dimensions for all of those images, which takes awhile. It takes longer than your SQL server is willing to hold open a connection. By the time you go to make an actual query, the server isn't listening anymore.

Seems to be what the description on those fields say:
Maximum image width per post wrote:Maximum width of an image/flash file in postings. Set to 0 for unlimited size.
Maximum image height per post wrote:Maximum height of an image/flash file in postings. Set to 0 for unlimited size.
