Non-searchable Forum

Post by phil mailloux »

I want to make one of my forums non-searchable, by that I mean I want it to not come up with any of the threads within that forum when I click on the "view new post" button and i'd like that to be the same for all forum users.

Does anyone know what i need to do? I thought i'd only have to leave the search index button off in the forum settings but that didn't help

Did you delete and rebuild your search index after changing the settings?

OPEN styles/prosilver/template/index_body.html

FIND:

Code: Select all

<li><a href="{U_SEARCH_UNANSWERED}">{L_SEARCH_UNANSWERED}</a><!-- IF S_LOAD_UNREADS --> &bull; <a href="{U_SEARCH_UNREAD}">{L_SEARCH_UNREAD}</a><!-- ENDIF -->&bull; <!-- IF S_USER_LOGGED_IN --><a href="{U_SEARCH_NEW}">{L_SEARCH_NEW}</a> <!-- ENDIF -->&bull; <a href="{U_SEARCH_ACTIVE_TOPICS}">{L_SEARCH_ACTIVE_TOPICS}</a></li>
   <!-- ENDIF -->
REPLACE WITH:

Code: Select all

<!-- IF FORUM_ID neq N --><li><a href="{U_SEARCH_UNANSWERED}">{L_SEARCH_UNANSWERED}</a><!-- IF S_LOAD_UNREADS --> &bull; <a href="{U_SEARCH_UNREAD}">{L_SEARCH_UNREAD}</a><!-- ENDIF -->&bull; <!-- IF S_USER_LOGGED_IN --><a href="{U_SEARCH_NEW}">{L_SEARCH_NEW}</a> <!-- ENDIF -->&bull; <a href="{U_SEARCH_ACTIVE_TOPICS}">{L_SEARCH_ACTIVE_TOPICS}</a></li>
   <!-- ENDIF -->   <!-- ENDIF -->
N is the forum id of the nonsearchable forum.

Then purge the cache.

Thanks for that, so for the forum id shouId I enter just what I see on the bar when I click on the forum, which would that be 'viewforum.php?f=38' ? Or is that something else I need to put in the text instead of N
