Navbar icons not working

Post by Cypriotmatrix »

My navbar icons don't seem to be working:

UCP/0 messages/view your posts ........ and search/FAQ/members/logout

http://www.cyprus-forum.net/index.php

I am not sure whether the social icons might be interfering or not.

What edit and in which folder will address this? :?

Kind Regards

What exactly do you mean? The icons show up and the links are functioning.

Are you sure?

Are the search/FAQ/register/login links working?

Because on my computer, with Mozilla, they don't seem to work.

If you have Mozilla, can you try them and report back?

Also, what I mean, is that I want to move the RSS/Facebook/Twitter icons to the right and in the middle of the header just to tidy things up a bit.

The cause of the problem is likely to be whatever code you added to the styles/prosilver/template/overall_header.html file just before the problem started. If the problem started after adding the social icon code (which you appear to have done incorrectly) then that is likely to be the cause.

Not sure what instructions you followed, but you seem to be using social icon images without giving the creator accreditation which they require.

I'd suggest deleting the code you added and following the instructions here, How to add social icons.

I fillowed Sinoon's instructions located here: viewtopic.php?f=74&t=639205&start=1530

Is that the only thing that is incorrect? The fact that creditation to the creator is not provided (which is an unintended error I can assure you).

No, your code differs from Sinom's (both the code at its positioning in the file) and you don't seem to have made the changes to the CSS file for moving the icons.

You might have a similar problem as me. I bet mine doesn't work with Chrome and I bet yours will not work with Mozilla either.

Stick around, and hopefully we can get to the bottom of it. :)

I've carried out both of the below many times without an issue with browsers so there must be more errors apart from the extra <!-- ENDIF --> already mentioned to you in the styles support forum. Rather than messing about trying to find out what went wrong with this why don't you replace the overall_header.html in your prosilver_se style with a fresh one from the prosilver_se package and refresh the template, it should be back as default then follow:
  1. How to add social icons to add your social icons (explicitly) - refresh the template and make sure everything is as it should be - then:
  2. Remove search box & add search icon in navbar - refresh the template
As Bill said, the icons you are using at the moment are copyright anyway so you should not be using them, the ones in the article are ok to use.

OK I started from scratch and followed the instructions above.

But the social icons are not visible. :?

I also refreshed the templates.

This is the code as it stands:

Code: Select all

<span class="corners-bottom"><span></span></span></div>
        		</div>

        		<div class="navbar">
        			<div class="inner"><span class="corners-top"><span></span></span>

<div id="social_bar">
                   <div id="social_buttons">
                      <a href="http://cyprus-forum.net/feed.php"><img alt="RSS" width="33px" height="33px" src="{T_THEME_PATH}/images/social/social_rss.png"></a>
                      <a href="http://www.facebook.com/CyprusForum"><img style="border-radius:4px 4px 4px 4px;" alt="Facebook" width="33px" height="33px" src="{T_THEME_PATH}/images/social/social_facebook.png"></a>
                      <a href="http://www.twitter.com/ForumCyprus"><img style="border-radius:4px 4px 4px 4px;" alt="Twitter" width="33px" height="33px" src="{T_THEME_PATH}/images/social/social_twitter.png"></a>
                   </div>
                </div>

        			<ul class="linklist navlinks">

Make sure the path to the image is correct, I see the RSS image here:
For example: Image

Your code says it's here, which is not where the image is:

Code: Select all

http://cyprus-forum.net/styles/prosilver_se/images/social/social_rss.png
It should be:

Code: Select all

/theme/images/social/social_rss.png
Your missing the theme folder.

Because you also needed to make changes to stylesheets you will also need to refresh the Themes component.

So I just change it to this?

Ok, my bad your original code was correct, as Bill said, you need to refresh prosilver_se after making edits, templates, themes and to make sure imagesets.
