If in fact you are getting spammed while registration is disabled we need more information. We need to know exactly what MODs you have installed etc. and, it would help if registration was re-enabled so we can see what's going on. I already figured out you're using the serenity style.

Edit: When I try to look at your style config I get:
HTTP Error 404.3 - Not Found
The page you are requesting cannot be served because of the extension configuration. If the page is a script, add a handler. If the file should be downloaded, add a MIME map.
Any idea what's causing that?

Hi Mick,

thanks for your reply. I appreciate your time.

I do not know what is causing that, how can I replicate it? You are right, I am using serenity.

When I click on MOD's to view what is in use I get this:

Code: Select all

I've just renamed posting.php to posting_.php for the moment...

Generally if you go to your_domain.com/styles/your_style/style.cfg you can view the style information. If I try it with your board I get the above error.

Do you have shared login/registration with other parts of your site (e.g. classifieds)?
When was the last registration while registration was disabled on your board? Did you remove all inactive users before disabling registration on your board?

Hi Mick,

I'm not sure why the error, the content of that files is as follows:

Code: Select all

name = Serenity
copyright = © 2007-2011 ST Software
version = 2.0.6
HGN,

No, no shared login, the last registration was only a few minutes ago and yes, I had cleared the inactive users.

Apart from the news feed mod that gives errors, do you have any modifications on your board?

To remove all modifications from the board follow this procedure:
Before proceeding backup all files and the database.
 • Download the Latest Version.
 • Unzip to your desktop and open the phpBB3 folder.
 • Remove (delete) the config.php file, and the /images and /files folders from the package.
 • Via FTP upload the remaining files and folders to the root of your board installation on the server overwriting the existing files.
 • In your browser go to http://www.canariesforum.com/install/da ... update.php
 • Let that run to completion.
 • Via FTP delete the install folder from the root of your board installation.
 • Via FTP open the cache folder and delete everything EXCEPT, index.htm and .htaccess (if you can see that).
 • Done.
Only use a good FTP client, such as FileZilla, to transfer the files. (File transfer utilities provided in host control panels can cause problems.)

Please note: Any 3rd party style will also require updating. Style and board versions must match.
All modifications that have been done on the board in the past will be lost.

To remove modifications in the database caused by MOD installation, install the Support toolkit and run the Database Cleaner tool.

Hi,

I did all of this, I deleted the whole website and also found reference to SMIX in the database so I dropped that table. I also (before) reversed the install process given in the SMIX mod.

I still get this when clicking on the MOD tab?!

I have checked a number of files and cant find a reference to SMIX anywhere.

Any idea why/where the reference may be to load up that file?

STK worked, thank you!

I have now cleared out inactive users and have registration disabled... we shall see!
