errors with mysql_upgrader.php

That error occurs when one or more files in the install folder have not been correctly transferred to your board. That could be caused by not using a good FTP client,
I uploaded the complete zipfile with winscp to my server. Then logged in to my server and unzipped on the server. So there can not be any fault in the transfer because it was unzipped on the server itself.

Which install /folder have you got uploaded, the autoupdate folder or the full files folder?
the phpBB-3.0.8_to_3.0.11 install folder

Delete that and upload the install folder from the full package then run the database updater that you said you'd already done here, for example:
Go to yoursite.com/forumfolder/install/database_update.php
Let that run and then delete the install folder.
Don't unzip anything on your server it is known to create problems. Unzip it to your desktop then use a good FTP client such as Filezilla to upload the folder.

Please make sure you have updated your board files too, this file is only updating your database.

You should now login to your board and check if everything is working fine. Do not forget to delete, rename or move your install directory!
