Login issue

Post by xenonlul »

Hello,

Users of my forum have informed me that they are having issues keeping their account logged in.

They check the "Log me in automatically every time I visit" box but they are stilled logged out after more or less 6 hours.

What could be the cause of this issue?

first, try changing your cookie name, just add a number to it.

that will force everyone to get a new cookie the next visit.

then, check your style. It is hard to tell for sure, but it could be something missing in your custom style that a standard up to date style has.

try switching to prosilver to test. if the login works then you will know it is a problem with the style.

If the session expires and they have done nothing on the board in that time then they will be logged out. However, if you have Allow persistent logins enabled then any action should automatically log the use back in. (Although, if cookies are set incorrectly autologin likely won't function correctly).

Where do I check if Allow persistent logins is enabled or not?

And are these the correct cookie settings for my board? http://evel.us/forums/index.php

Alright, that's already enabled and as you said my cookie settings look fine so what else could be the issue?

Could it be a database problem?

Could you tell us a little bit more about your board by filling out the Support Request Template Generator and posting it back here so we are able to assist you better.
