HTTP 401 when posting

Post by ZascaFuaca » Mon Mar 04, 2013 7:18 am

Hello,

Forum version: 3.0.10
Style: subsilver2

I'm getting some apparently random HTTP 401 errors when posting in my 3.0.10 phpBB3 forum. It happens both in newtopic and also private messaging.

The style has been slightly modified just to show some blocks in different order (subforums before topics) in the viewforum page. No other changes.

When posting/editing some new topics, depending on their contents, an http 401 arises. I've no idea about which contents are leading to this. Normally are "special" char sequences like dashes or dots, but in other cases a simple word like "valium" are causing it.

It happens also when pming and I've noticed, for instance, that it happens *always* when forwarding another message due to this contents:

-------- Original Message --------
Subject: Re: XXXXX

If this dashed line is deleted/changed (inserting spaces between dashes), pm is successfully sent.

I'd appreciate any idea or pointer to follow.

Thanks in advance.

Your issue seems to be server set up related. Most probably Mod Security is blocking certain words and character combinations.
Server set up is outside the support scope on phpBB: https://www.phpbb.com/rules/#support-scope
