Removing all mods

Post by BB1955 »

If I want to remove all my mods (to many), what is the best way.

If I use Automod to remove them, it leaves files and junk all over the place.

I don't want to loose any posts

*NOTE: Before proceeding backup all files and the database.*
  • Upload all new files from a download of the full version, EXCEPT for config.php, the /images and /files folders.
  • Go to yoursite.com/forumfolder/install/database_update.php
  • Let that run and then delete the install folder.
  • You now have a new up to date board containing all your users and posts but without any MODs that you might have had installed.
then, get the Support Toolkit and install it and run the database cleaner.

if you do this, it will clean out all extra data from the database that relates to MODs etc.

your posts, members, forums etc. will not be touched.

be sure to make a complete backup before you do this just to be safe.

If I run the support toolkit you linked to it will remove all the superfluous junk that is associated with non-active modules?

it gives you the option to remove anything from the database that was not part of the original install.

be aware that the STK is only for phpbb 3.0 it will not work with 3.1
