users edit their first post

Post by valahul » Sat Jun 29, 2013 5:38 pm

Hi.
I have a question if possible.
I have the last version of phpbb3 on my board.
I want in a specified forum (a mini buy and sell), when a user open a topic, to can edit the first post forever, and when he wants, he can close the topic. But only on his started topics.
I see that work.
It is possible? If yes, how?
Thanks.

Unless you have specifically limited editing time (it is a global setting so cannot be set per forum) then, by default, there is no time limit on users editing their own posts.

Locking a topic is a moderator function but can only be assigned on a per forum basis not per topic. You would need a MOD for that. Have a look in the Modification database and if you can't find one that is suitable you could post in [3.0.x] MOD Requests.

Actually, there is a forum permission to allow locking your own topic.
You can go into forum permissions for the registered users usergroup and give it Can Lock Own Topic permissions for that forum.

Thank you for answers.

Yes, this problem I solved it from forum permission.
The other problem (in a specified forum -a mini buy and sell-, when a user open a topic, to can edit the first post forever) I could not solved it.
Perhaps I'll make a request for a mod.
Thanks again, and if anyone has a solution is welcome.

as above. unless you changed that option, the default is that a poster can edit his post forever already.

so, if that is not true on your board, you need to change the setting in the admin panel back to default.

Sorry for my bad english... :)
I set from Admin Panel that users can edit their post only for 15 min.
So, i have a phpbb3 board, latest version.
In it, i have a section buy and sell.
Only in this section (forum), i want that user to can edit permanently their first post on topics that their open. Only in topics open by them. And can change only the first post.
The topic of course may contain more than one post.
Why?
So they can do an update price for a products, add a new product, because visitors look at first post on an ad for sale.
I want that in this section (buy and sell), user to can locked their own open topics (only topics started by her), by this problem i solved from forum permission.
I see this work on a phpbb3 forum, so it is possible. And is great.

In ACP, Post settings:
Limit editing time:
Limits the time available to edit a new post. Setting the value to 0 disables this behaviour.

The problem is that he wants it only in a specific forum and not globally. So he probably will need a MOD for that.
