Forum down after server migration - MySQL error

Post by WWu777 » Fri Aug 16, 2013 4:48 pm

I just moved my site to another server on my webhost. After the move, one of my forums went down. It is showing a MySQL error. Do you know what's wrong? Here is the link to it:

http://www.happierabroad.com/ladiesforum/index.php

My other two forums still work fine though. I don't know why. I changed all the database strings to the new ones, so that shouldn't be the problem.

Any idea? Thanks.

The config.php information is not correct or the account does not have access to that database.

I already looked in my configuration file and all the variables are correct. I updated the database connection string, or hostname, with the new one too.

What else can I do?

When I try to go to the forum, I get this error message:

http://www.happierabroad.com/ladiesforum/index.php
SQL ERROR [ mysql4 ]

Access denied for user 'WomensForum'@'%' to database 'WomensForum' [1044]

An sql error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact an administrator if this problem persists.
Why does it say mysql4? The database for that forum is MySQL5. Did it go down because it's MySQL5? The other forums that still work are MySQL4. That's the only difference. Is that the reason?

No it's not that.

It says access is denied.
That account does not have access to that database with that information.

But my database username and password are correct. When I went to myphpadmin, I was able to log into it. What can I do?

If it was all correct it would work.

Have you given that account name access to the database in your site manager?
Also the @% bit doesn't look right. It's usually the word localhost for the DNS.

I think so. After the migration of my two forums, the other two work fine. I don't know what's wrong with this one. I asked Godaddy tech support. Here is their response:
Dear Winston,

Thank you for your reply. Since your coonnection strings are correct and you are still getting this error I did some research. Based on s search of users with the same problem the resolution appears to be using phpmyadmin run a repair on your boards database tables. Because of the complexity of this, we do not provide support to assist you with this. We recommend consulting the large number of online forums dedicated to coding and scripting, like StackOverflow.com

For more information:

Please let us know if we can assist you in any other way.

What do they mean? How do I repair the database tables in phpmyadmin?

Thanks.

It's unlikely to be that.

The error is what it says.

Access has been denied for that information to that database.

What do you have for the DNS in the config.php file?

The @% is not in my hostname or config file. It was outputted by the system.

Could it be because it is MySQL5? The rest of my forums are on MySQL4.

What can happen during a server migration to cause this?

There is no DNS entry in the config.php file.

Make sure you've filled it out correctly as per this article.
The DNS field is this one
$dbhost

Thanks. I looked over that page and examined every aspect of it, including the hostname. Still no go. I did find a missing ?> at the end of the file. But after I put it back in, it still didn't work.

I would post the details from my config.php file here, but it's probably not safe to do so. Can I just PM it to you instead?

You can post it without the password. That's fine.

Ok here it is without the password. When the problem is resolved, I'll edit it out later.

Code: Select all

<?php
// phpBB 3.0.x auto-generated configuration file
// Do not change anything in this file!
$dbms = 'mysql';
$dbhost = 'WomensForum.db.3383110.hostedresource.com';
$dbport = '';
$dbname = 'WomensForum';
$dbuser = 'WomensForum';
$dbpasswd = 'edited out';
$table_prefix = 'phpbb_';
$acm_type = 'file';
$load_extensions = '';

@define('PHPBB_INSTALLED', true);
// @define('DEBUG', true);
// @define('DEBUG_EXTRA', true);
?>
See anything wrong or missing?
