Internal Server Error 500

Post by uw1688 » Tue Aug 20, 2013 8:34 pm

Hi,
In the last two months, the phpbb3 sometimes has the Internal Server Error 500 at the night time. But in the day time, the phpbbs has less "Internal Server Error 500". It hosts with 1and1.com company. When I called the 1and1.com for technical support, they said my website has too many processes(applications) running.

But my website is small and the web traffic is low. The number of the average users on the phpbb3 is about 50~80 users.

My website's ".htaccess" file is below.

Code: Select all

<Limit GET POST>
order allow,deny
deny from www.123ures.com
deny from www.222ures.com
allow from all
</Limit>
#
Options All -Indexes
AddType x-mapp-php5 .php
AddHandler x-mapp-php5 .php
Could someone tell me how to fix it? Thanks.

your host support people either have no clue what they are talking about or they are simply trying to get you to upgrade your service ( spend more money ).

I would ask for a supervisor or simply find a new host. 1 and 1 seem to be having these sorts of issues lately.

I need to have a good share hosting account. Could you please recommend me any better web hosting companies? Thanks.

I had a similar problem before, not with phpBB but with 500 Internal Server errors. I'm not sure if this is your problem or not.

But for me, I had too many search engines crawling my sites, my sites generates a lot of pages, based on the nature of the site.

The way I fixed it was I had to slow down the crawl rate by adding this to my robots.txt.

Code: Select all

User-agent: *
Crawl-delay: 5
Basically the search engines indexing created a DOS (Denial of Service) attack on my VPS. I was at it for days trying to figure out what was going on, the hosting company was no help at all. Once I changed the delay, everything was back to normal.

We cannot really recommend a host, but we do recommend that you visit WebHostingTalk
