How to enable font colour

Post by Poor Butterfly »

Is there a certain code I'm supposed to enter somewhere to make this work? All I have on my forum right now is black text.

What is that little "c" beside the Font colour button? What's an "inline code"? Do I need to enable that, too?

unless you removed it, the font colour bbcode button should be righ next to the drop down for the font size.

the "c" is a custom bbcode they have installed here.

you can create your own by using this:
bbcode: {TEXT}
for the html replacement:

Code: Select all

<code style="font-family: Monaco, 'Andale Mono', 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; font-size: 0.9em; font-style: normal; line-height: 1.3em; background: #FFF; border: 1px solid #C9D2D8; padding: 0 3px; color: #2E8B57; display: inline;">{TEXT}</code>

Yes, of course the button itself is there, but it doesn't "do" anything when I click it. Unlike the youtube button, when I click it, it puts the text into the place where I'm typing my message, and I supply the code.

However, even though the youtube button was always there, I had to place a code into my acp to make it "do" something when I clicked it. I had to get that code here on the support forum. This is what I'm asking about the font colour button. Why are the buttons there, but I have to find out the code to make them work, and also where to place them? I just upgraded to 3.0.12, and it still doesn't make the colour button do anything when I click it.

ok, phpbb does not come with a youtube bbcode button at all.
it is a custom bbcode that has to be added. if you had part of it added but not all of it then either you or someone created it but did not finish it.

as for the font color button, by default, it is there and it works just fine.

now, the problem is why doesn't yours work?

how did you update?

it is probably the editor.js file in whatever style you are using ( styles/yourstyle/template/editor.js )

however, until we find out how you updated we don't really know for sure.

Standard phpBB has never included a Youtube BBCode. It always has to be added.

Just like the previous time, I had my host server - hostgator.com - do the upgrade for me. The Font colour button has always been there ever since I first downloaded the program more than 2 years ago, but even after 2 recent upgrades, it doesn't work, and never has since the beginning.

It appears I don't have the file you're talking about? I've written hostgator to see if they can help check on this.

I don't see editor.js

Okay, I will fill out the form, but I also need help with the fact that with today's upgrade to the latest version, I no longer get persistent log-in. It was there before, now it isn't. It quit working before the first upgrade, then that fixed it, now it isn't working again.

I'll be back soon with the form. So many glitches in this program since Day One.

well if that file is missing it is no wonder you are having problems like this.

you need to double check to make sure that all files are there that should be.

download a full version from here to your computer, unzip it and use that to check and to also upload a copy of any missing files like editor.js

Download from where? I have no idea how to upload it, and would probably destroy my forum for sure if I tried.

I activated you. :D

I've never had ranks, either. I wonder what else is missing.

Is it possible for me to download a whole new package, and then transfer my existing board to it, keeping all the posts intact?

Yes.

Before proceeding backup all files and the database.
  • Download the Latest Version.
  • Unzip to your desktop and open the phpBB3 folder.
  • Remove (delete) the config.php file, and the /images and /files folders from the package.
  • Via FTP upload the remaining files and folders to the root of your board installation on the server overwriting the existing files.
  • In your browser go to http://www.thebeatlesneverexisted.com/c ... update.php
  • Let that run to completion.
  • Via FTP delete the /install folder from the root of your board installation.
  • Done.
Only use a good FTP client, such as FileZilla, to transfer the files. (File transfer utilities provided in host control panels can cause problems.)

Please note: Any 3rd party style (styles other than prosilver and subsilver2) will also require updating, style and board versions must match. Your style does not appear to have been updated since phpBB 3.0.8, that will cause problems.

Your cookie domain is also incorrect, it should be .thebeatlesneverexisted.com, note the leading dot.
