Hi, Its my first website so its been a steep learning curve. But the site is up & running & working ok.
But now i have been asked to add a forum so used the phpbb code & its working, but can I add my standard header & footer php sections to the forum index.php without totally screwing everything up?

My forum looks to be working ok & is here
http://www.jogging.comuv.com/phpBB3/index.php

but my main pages are here

http://www.jogging.comuv.com/ so i created a jj_forum.php & added the forum index.php to it but its all messed up. :-(

The best way is to modify phpBB to match your existing site and you would edit the HTML files. Assuming prosilver or derivative this and this should help with anything you have to do with colouring or editing prosilver. If you have other questions regarding modifying your style you need to post in the styles forums. You should also have a read of Tools needed to set up and customise phpBB.

Hi, arnt most forums added to existing websites?
If so would it be possible to amend the install procedure so that the forum could easily be added to existing content of an existing website?

It seems rather complicated to take someones existing stylesheet & then go about reediting it so it mimicks the website the forum is going into.

That is not the way the Internet works.
Each website is a set of different documents. There is not a simple way for the phpBB Install to determine what documents make up a website, and where in those documents a forum board would belong.

I once tried to add a forum to my website but found it very difficult to get them both looking similar, getting them the same proved almost impossible.

The way forward for myself was to go the other way around and add my website to the forum by using 'custom pages'. Have a read of this knowledge base article which explains how to add new pages: https://www.phpbb.com/kb/article/add-a- ... -to-phpbb/
if you feel confident with that, the development wiki has a very good article on template syntax so you will be able to add more funcionality to those custom pages: https://wiki.phpbb.com/Tutorial.Template_syntax

If you would like to see what is possible theres a link to my site in my signature. Its all running inside of the forum software but the forum is only one part (and not the main part) of the site.
