Stats for 28 Dec 2013:

CPU Usage - %1.60
MEM Usage - %5.87
Number of MySQL procs (average) - 27.54
Top Process %CPU 27.00 [php]
Top Process %CPU 11.00 /usr/php4/bin/php /home/veikk1/public_html/keskustelu/posting.php
Top Process %CPU 5.50 /usr/php4/bin/php /home/veikk1/public_html/keskustelu/posting.php

As such, we have been forced to temporarily suspend your account. You can access your control panel via https://tempest.lunarbreeze.com to modify your scripts.

Here are the most common causes for high usage:

- Your scripts are not upgraded: you may have not upgraded your scripts yet, as older versions of the scripts can have bugs in them that would cause high CPU and Memory usage

Now I got answer, I have original phpbb 3.0.8 without mods.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us back regarding this issue.

Please note that we were forced to suspend the account because the high usage on it destabilized the server functionality. Please note that you are hosted on a shared server and you need to share resources with other customers. We need to provide our customers a fair share of the resource usage on the server where you are hosted too. Server resources often refer to the CPU,MySQL and RAM usage on a web hosting server. To put it in simple terms, this means your web hosting account is overloading the server to an extent where no other accounts on the same hosting server can function.

I unsuspended the account for you to be able to make further changes on it. Also I scan the account and there is no virus or infected file.

On a further check I noticed that your site veikkausforum.com is receiving unnecessary hits from different bots/IPs/spam, please see more information below:

In order to consult your account's detailed web-statistics you may use the Webalizer (Web Statistics) tool from your cPanel. You will find the most requested web pages or sub-pages (or resources), the IP addresses that are responsible for most of your web pages' hits, the hits / day or / month and other useful information.

Please use the robots.txt file to control access of the bots on your account. Robots are indexing your website, you may want to use a robots.txt file in order to manage this process. More information about it at: http://www.robotstxt.org/. Also you should block these IP addresses if you do not recognize them via the IP Deny Manager from your cPanel.

More than that you can use Google Webmaster Central Tool at https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/ to reduce the rate of crawling a domain or you can use the following link http://www.google.com/support/webmaster ... swer.py?an... to change the Google crawl rate.

Not all of the above are bad bots, because of that we advise you to check them with this online tool and block only the unnecessary:

You got an answer from the host (a weak one at that) but didn't provide the information that Lumpy asked for.

Since you have no MODs update the board using the file replacement method.

Before proceeding backup all files and the database.
  • Download the full package.
  • Unzip to your desktop and open the phpBB3 folder.
  • Remove (delete) the config.php file, and the /images and /files folders from the package.
  • Via FTP or SSH upload the remaining files and folders to the root of your board installation on the server overwriting the existing files.
  • In your browser go to http://www.veikkausforum.com/keskustelu ... update.php
  • Let that run to completion.
  • Via FTP or SSH delete the /install folder from the root of your board installation.
  • Done.
You now have a new up to date board containing all your users and posts but without any MODs that you might have had installed.

Only use a good FTP or SSH client, such as FileZilla, to transfer the files. (File transfer utilities provided in host control panels can cause problems.)

Seems odd to me that nobody asked about the amount of users of the forum.

How many users online do u have in any given time? how many users online do u have in rush hour?

In my experience, most of the shared hosting services will fail with a forum that have 25 or more online users at any given time. You can't expect much more form a crappy shared hosting...

p.d: if u have too many bots/gues u can try using this mod https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/cgp/

p.d2: disable gzip, it will reduce cpu load. And make sure that guest can't use search in the forum

that advice is nothing at all like "format c:" . replacing the files is a very quick and simple way to eleminate the possibility of it being a corrupt file.
it is not reinstalling, it is not wiping anything out etc.

you will notice that he said, "since you have no MODs installed".

your advice about the number of users can somtimes be correct. however, when that is the case, it normally causes the "too many connections" errors from the server, not cpu usage errors.

the most common cause of the cpu usage errors is the host trying to get you to upgrade to a better /more expensive hosting plan.

next would probably be a problem with a bad MOD or some corrupt files. hence the advice to replace all the files with new good ones.

I think there is some problem with both. I have installed some mod which did not work ( seo mod) and rush hours are way below what it was, I used to have 100 online at the time. Now the problem is that LUNARPAGES are not sending me the domain transfer verification code?? What I should do? I bought cheap host from godaddy, but Im maybe using it for some other website. What host you suggest in Europe for phpbb?

100 users online in a shared hosting? No way, that is too much for a shared hosting. You need a vps, shared hostings cant handle that amount of traffic. U need a vps server asap.

phpBB doesn't have either of those versions?

Why not just follow the instructions you were given? There was no mention of an update package and you were told to backup first.
