Making Forums Unviewable to Guests

I searched through old posts about this, and tried following the instructions, but this isn't working for me. What I want is for guests to be able to read the Index Page, but if they click on any forums, I want those to be unviewable.

I've tried both:
guests see forum = yes
guests read forum = no

and

guests see forum = yes
guests read forum = yes

and in both cases, they all come out differently.

It got so incredibly messed up by my trying to make things invisible that I've disabled it.

Members can still use it by logging in, but guests cannot view.

No they can't, you as a admin or moderator can, normal members cannot.

Since we may as well be looking at a blank page now you are going to have to explain what this means

The best I can explain it is, when I set each category for No Access to Guests, some show up and some don't. Some are just "stacked" on top of each other with no forums showing, while others show the forums, and those can be clicked into and read by guests.

I re-enabled it, maybe you'll see what I mean.

I have set this message board so that guests cannot view:
http://www.thebeatlesneverexisted.com/mb

I did it by setting Guests to "All No".

But look what happens when I copy over the same settings to this board:
http://www.thebeatlesneverexisted.com/ctrn

A hodgepodge of different results. Any reason this could be happening?

Maybe you have the Anonymous user in more than just the Guests group?
ACP > USERS AND GROUPS > Manage users > Select Anonymous user > Groups

Select Anonymous User is as far as it takes me. I don't see any Groups after that, but what does this Anonymous thing mean?

Also, it says they have posted 11 times, so how do I see their posts? On the other forum, there is also this same result, but with no posts.

To the upper right on that page Select form: Groups

The Anonymous user is the account used by guests and members who have not yet logged in.

I set Anonymous to be in the Guest group, but it didn't change anything. Then I set all Guests to No Access, but when I checked it as a guest, I could view and read all forums. :?

In USERS AND GROUPS > Group management have a look at who is in the Guests group, Anonymous should be the only member of that group.

That's what it says.

Just so you know, it still doesn't work to try and make it invisible to guests. It just gives me the hodge-podge effect of some forums hidden, and some showing.

Use the Permission Masks facility to view forum-based permissions for the anonymous user for a forum that is hidden from gusts and one that is not. If you click on the trace icon Image next to a permission you will see trace of the sources for the permission.

Could you give me the path for that, I'm not sure where to start. Not having any success getting to the destination on my own. Thanks.
