[split from] How to prevent reply on topic spamming?

Post by rumensoft » Tue Jan 21, 2014 10:47 am

Hi,
I have same problem. I have Q & A, and there a lot registration and spam every day... How is that possible?! How we can stop this? I think is some bug in phpbb3, they easy hack phpbb3, because, before I was using in Joomla Q & A -> and there was no SPAM. Now in phpbb3 - every minute...

P.S. You can find information here about this the problem.
viewtopic.php?f=46&t=2122696

The important thing is:
For instance, "Who do you see in the mirror?" is an effective question, while "What colour is the sky?" or "2+2 = ?" are not.

This is not a hack or a bug.
If you have spam registrations it's because your question is too easy. Simple as that.

That is only intended to be an example of a style of question not a suggestion to use that actual question. Any actual question and answer that has been published in that topic is probably not effective because the spambots will have already added them to their lists.

Hi, yes, I know :)

If I have 6 question, how long they can stay? I mean, do I have to change the questions every month?

Up to you.

The problem with multiple questions is that if the spambots are getting through, you don't know which question is the easy one for them so you have to then think of 6 more.

If you choose one question, you know instantly if it's effective or not.
