Forum Clone

Post by Martine M »

Hi I think I need some help again.

I am trying to clone the forum to have a testforum http://www.kippenforum.nl/phpBB3/index.php
So I made a subdomain Testforum http://testforum.kippenforum.nl/index.php

I did a fresh install of phpBB3 and overwritten all files except config.php with the files of the life forum.

I did a database dump and successfully imported in the database that was made by the new installation.

But now I need to adjust some paths but I do not know where to find them all.
Forum still looks like the new installation.

Hope someone can help me out?

Yes I used the search option of the forum and followed that link before I posted here but somehow I must have mist something.
It is not working But I see now that both database are not exact the same, the new one has more tables and less records.

If the clone has the same config.php file, it will not be pointed at the new database, but the original one.

No I did not overwrite the new config.php and also checked it after I copied all files to the new root and it points to the new database.

If it would point to the original database the forum would look the same which it doesn't.

I just saw that the table prefix was not correct in config.php so now that is fixed the database is connecting correctly with the forum now. All seems to be there, I still have some theme problems though.
the themes are is not showing correctly.

I suspect you have hotlink protection running on the subdomain. That's preventing access to any images.

Just a question to be sure:

if the correct database entries are set in config.php then I can be 100 % sure the testforum has no connection with the live forum any more?

I think it doesn't but just want to be very sure before going any further on that testforum.

The databases are totally independent.
The board will only display the contents of the database that is set in the config.php file.
