Why my users are not allowed to post more than 3 post

Post by Anuragb91 »

I have recently started one forum and i am amazed of its features.

Recently one of my user report me that he is not able to post the new topics. When i checked his status via ACP, he had already posted 3 posts. When i checked it myself, the new topic button is available. but when my user tried to post, the new topics button is not available to him.

I think there is any problem with permissions.

Please tell me how to correct this.

Is that user on a different language? It may be that you don't have an imageset for that language installed and so he can't see the posting button.

there is no permission in phpbb that would limit a user to a certain amount of posts.

I don't think so...

I have not changed any style of the forum till now. Hence, no question of another language arises.

I am using the default style set.

ALso, if you can see...I tested this thing by creating myself as a new user. and the button is available to me. After that, same as above, i posted continuously 3 posts and suddenly when i tried to post another post, the button simply disappeared.

Can you explain me this......

The login details do not allow posting of new topics or replies - I would suggest that you have a permissions problem

How can that be the problem when you say that users can only make three posts?

Isn't it be a problem when my users wont be able to make new posts, replies in the forum that they want to.

Or would it very fine when they will gonna ask me everytime - hey admin, we are not able to make new replies ".

Yes, this is not a problem for me. but for my reader, I definitely don't want that.

ok, the user you created and provided to us does not have the permission to start topics.

your problems are all going to be related to permissions. either you have group permissions wrong or forum permissions or something.

I would suggest that you create a new admin account. then, PM one of us that admin account username/password so we can see your permission settings to find out how you have them setup and correct it.

I am having same problem as well.

I know I had by default New member post limit: 3 and Set Newly Registered Users group to default: to No also now I confirm that I have changed it to 10 post limit.

However, my new user (has 3 post - new topic and reply) cannot create new post or reply to other post.
No "New Topic" or "Reply" button available to him.

Pretty strange.

Do I need to do anything else to be allow them to post more than 10 posts?

Need to fix badly this one.
PS I am using PHPBB3.1.X

if you are using 3.1 then you need to post in the 3.1 support forum.
