New URLs has .html old one's doesn't.

Post by Rimesia »

Hello,

Recently , I checked my webmaster tools account and I realized there is lots of crawl erros because of my old url type.

My old url type doesn't contains .html in the end but my new type does. For example it's like this ;

Old URL : www.phpbb.com/community/old-url-f858/
New URL : www.phpbb.com/community/new-url-f858.html

So , is there a htaccess code that redirect old one to new one ?
Or I should do that with a code in viewtopic.php ?

What's the address of the board?
phpBB URLs have never had html at the end.

Likely using SEO mod which is not official. Did you change some settings to change the URL? Check with the mod developers. If I were changing my URLs so radically like that though I would 301 redirect the old ones to the new ones. It could be done with htaccess.

You would need to ask at phpbb-seo.com

There isn't any thing wrong with that mod just I lingered while I set up phpbb-seo mod config. While in that time google indexed couple of topics without ".html".

I'm just asking you guys how to redirect those topics to .html ones in .htaccess.

I can't ask phpbb-seo.com because they are dead for a while.

MODs are supported by their authors, not by us.

the best thing you can do is uninstall the seo MOD . it is not going to help you and will only cause problems like this.

google has no problem at all with the standard phpbb file names etc.

^^ this. You don't gain any "SEO" despite the name. It's a bloated mod as is, all you gain is the URLs and the "advantage" of being unable to upgrade to the latest phpBB version. JMHO though. There's a reason it's not in the moddb ;)
