Deleting Files from Your Board

Post by Inkstone »

I just installed phpBB and it needs to be upgraded. The upgrade guide from 3.0 to 3.1 says:

On your website, delete all files from your board EXCEPT for:

The config.php file

The images/ directory

The files/ directory

The store/ directory

The problem is, I have no idea how to locate these files. This is the first website I've worked on, and the first time using phpBB. It seems like a lot to step right in to. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your time.

how did you install your board? what is the link to it?

if you truly have just installed and it is truly 3.0 then just wipe it out and start over with a new install of 3.1.9
3.0 is at end of life and support will stop at the end of this year.

also, the way you do any of this is by using a ftp program to upload/downlod files to and from your hosting server.

It was a one click install via HostGator.

I've uninstalled and downloaded the new version. I'm currently attempting to upload it through ftp.

was it really 3.0? I wonder why hostgator would still be providing 3.0 when 3.1 has been out for over a year.

anyway, good luck. If you are installing 3.1.10 and you have any problems, come back and post in the 3.1 forum for help.

So I uploaded the file, but upon trying to install, I get a 404 error message.

http://www.example.com/phpBB3
http://www.example.com/phpBB3/install/
http://www.example.com/phpBB3/install/index.php

I've tried inputting each of these separately.
The .htaccess is in the root level of the phpBB3 folder.

Could it be that my system doesn't meet the requirements?

uploaded what file?

how about a link to the board or at least a screenshot of where your files are on the server.
