Can't access files after hosting change

Post by Leroy_bb » Mon Nov 07, 2016 6:57 pm

First of all I have version 3.0.5

I've moved my phpBB forum to a new server. The domain name still is the same.

I've edited the config file and everything works fine, except for the files. If I try to access a file there is an 404 error. I've checked the credentials, the files directory has 777 all other directories 755 and the files 644.

The files are on my server, I've checked that.

The link to the file in my forum is the following: http://myServer.com/download/file.php?i ... 78bf46852e

Does anyone have a suggestion what the problem could be?

Thank you very much!

Link to the file is http://myServer.ch/download/file.php?id ... 778bf46852, but it's only accesible for registered users.

404 means "not found". During transfer your board to the new host, did you also transfer all files in the files-Folder (which contains the attachments) and the image-Folder (which contains avatars, smilies etc.) to the new host in binary mode?

I've transfered it with a ftp client, without binary mode.

The old hosting isn't running anymore, is it possible to setup the connection to the files again?

You need to check the content of the files-folder.
But, when i checked the link you posted, it seems that not the attachments are missing, but the script file file.php in folder download.
Check it and upload that file again from a clean copy (can be found here for 3.0.5: https://download.phpbb.com/pub/release/ ... -3.0.5.zip )

Thank you very much canonknipser, that solved my problem.
