SOLVED: Random User Switching

Post by Digi-WP »

Hi all,

BIG problem on my side  Our forum user accounts are getting mixed up. I log in with my own account and when I see again I am logged in as someone else, just any other random forum user. Others have reported the same. What could it be?

The session validation was set to "none", which I now switched to A.B..but it's still happening. Any advice would be appreciated!!

What password can be used to view this issue? No answer given
What actions did you take (updating your board; installing a MOD, style or extension; etc.) prior to this problem becoming noticeable? None. Several users complained about not being able to access the forum. I contacted the ISP to check the blacklist for blocked IP addresses. They said there was a "server issue" and "high load" which prevented the users from accessing the site.
Please describe your problem. While I am logged in, my user is suddenly switched to a different user. The user accounts are getting mixed up. Other users reported the same behaviour. They would suddenly be logged in as a different user and when trying to log out get the following error:
"You were not logged out as the request did not match your session"

This is caused by your host server.

You probably have some extra caching on the firewall which is messing up the logins. Cloudfare can do this.

Thank you very much Kevin.

We are on a shared server at the ISP. I was thinking of switching to a dedicated server but if it's caching on the firewall then that won't help - unless you mean software firewall on the shared server and not hardware infrastructure?

Thanks so much I was worried that users had access to each others' PM boxes, etc.

Best regards

You should have control panel access to your own server space firewall and cloudfare settings. It's likely that's caching the cookies or sessions and when the next person arrives they get the cached info from another user.
