Recovering from a crash

Post by Curmudgeon »

I screwed up while trying to move forum, couldn't recover old forum/site. Have the forum (new install) up on a new host. Wanting to merge the full sql backup I did prior to crashing the forum.

>> Running the same version of phpBB3 as before: 3.0.12
>> Environment: cPanel-2.2.31, Apache-2.2.31, PHP-5.6.27, MySQL-5.6.32, Perl-5.10.1

Tried to use phpMyAdmin but it only wants a file =/< 50Mb. My backup is ~335Mb.

Any suggestions how how to merge the old and new. The new only has 1 forum and it is a unique name as I read in some conditions duplicate names could cause issues.

Thanks for the assist.

The tool phpMyAdmin is not usable for importing large database back-ups, try Bigdump. :)

the new one won't matter since it will all be removed and replaced by the import of the old.

Knowledge Base - Using Bigdump to restore large database dumps

if that won't work, then you can use other means:

Knowledge Base - How to backup and restore your database with SSH

or
mysqldumper
