Set the default for pop-ups on reciept of a private message?

Post by president » Wed Jun 21, 2006 7:18 am

Can someone point me to where in the admin panel I can set the default for pop-ups on reciept of a private message?

I don't think there is an option in the ACP to change the default for it - but it should only be a simple change in the code to change the default for new users yourself.

Surely there should be an option for administrators to set though?

Is this planned or is there a reason this ability has been left out?

I am not sure I'm talking about the same thing, but anyway...

in ACP, go to "system", then under Module Management Category in the left menu, choose "User Control Panel", then "Private Messages", then "Private message popup". It's enabled by default.

Cheers

No, that's not it.

That just allows for the pop-ups system to exist.

Some of the defaults are hardcoded. If you feel brave and know what you are doing, you can change them in the user_add function in includes/functions_user.php

The line to change is 173. Replace:

Code: Select all

'user_notify'			=> 0,
with

Code: Select all

'user_notify'			=> 1,
That should do it.

edit: nah, seems to be another line. Just look around.

Avatar sorted. I think I'll wait for a final release of phpBB3 before I go about making a mod for admins to access the default private message pop-up settings though.

I'd like this option available as well... Seems like it would've been added somewhere in the admin panel.
