Deactivation Question

Post by unclebill »

I know I goofed.

I only had myself as the soul user (and admin)

I went to change my profile..... specifically my email and it deactivated me.

Not sure why it deactivated me, but is there someplace in the database I can tweak to undo this?

We will provide answers to general setup questions, configuration problems and support for determining common problems mostly related to bugs.

I must have misread this.... is there a more appropriate place to ask my question?

You can ask here, sorry I don't know the answer to you problem, I'll see what I can find out. You should read though, it says it'll deactivate you.

He said his account was deactivated. He is the only one on the site. Therefore, he can not access the administration panel.

OK - I read it be he was the only user as well as there being an admin as I did not think that you could deactivate the admin.

You could try changing the user_type in phpbb_users to = 3

Good to know that it worked.

What I would be concerned about is how you managed to deactivate yourself in the first place. I have tried changing the email address via UCP and there were no problems - in fact I could not even see how you could deactivate from there. It would be interesting if you try and recreate the problem and if it does happen again I would report it as a possible bug.

Just to be sure, is this phpBB3? (Seeing as we're in the phpbb3 support forum an' all)

I think we're talking phpbb2 here. The email changing account deactivation has been a 'feature' of phpbb2 for some time. I just tried it on v3 with no problems at all.

To the best of my knowledge Kevin there is no "user_type" in the users table in phpbb2!

I know but it's such a common thing in v2 and I couldn't replicate it in v3, I was just checking :)

That's because it was closed. This behaviour has been changed already and will be in the next beta
