Upgrading From RC1 to RC3

Post by pimpdaddy »

Hi i have a couple of questions,

1. Am i ok just updating from RC1 to RC3?

2. Would i just unzip the file and upload the contents to the install folder within the root of my RC1 forum?

3. Will the upgrade keep my new template file and settings?

If you could answer those questions i would be most grateful

Cheers...

You can not use the RC2 -> RC3 auto updater to update from RC1, If you are planning on using the auto updater you will need to first use the RC1 -> RC2 auto updater.

first things first though...is your forum modified, in other words do you have any mods installed?

Hi m8, than ks for the very quick reply, I have no mods installed, but i have added new profile fields.

Are there both convertors within the install directory?

Then assuming you have not modified the files you can just download the full phpBB3 RC3 download and over write all files accept the config.php and then run the install/database_update.php to update the database :)

not, the auto updater is for modified boards, you can either do As i suggested in my last post or use the changed files package which contains only the files which have changed and then you can just replace them instead of them all :)
