Here is one I use for the video site Veoh.com.

BBCode usage:

Code: Select all

[veoh]http://www.veoh.com/videos/{TEXT}[/veoh]

HTML Replacement:

Code: Select all

<embed src="http://www.veoh.com/videodetails2.swf?permalinkId={TEXT}&player=videodetailsembedded&videoAutoPlay=0" allowFullScreen="true" width="540" height="438" bgcolor="#000000" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"></embed>

Here is one I use for the video site 5min.com.

BBCode usage:

Code: Select all

[5min]{NUMBER}[/5min]

HTML Replacement:

Code: Select all

<object width='400' height='325' id='FiveminPlayer'>
<param name='allowfullscreen' value='true'/>
<param name='allowScriptAccess' value='always'/>
<param name='movie' value='http://www.5min.com/Embeded/{NUMBER}/'/>
<embed src='http://www.5min.com/Embeded/{NUMBER}/' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' width='400' height='325' allowfullscreen='true' allowScriptAccess='always'>
</embed>
</object>
The URL's are like this: http://www.5min.com/Video/Signs-that-yo ... -over-6767. Use the number at the end between the tags:

Code: Select all

[5min]6767[/5min]

For Stage6:

BBCode usage:

Code: Select all

[Stage6]{TEXT}[/Stage6]
HTML replacement

Code: Select all

<meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en-gb">
<div align="center">
<center>
<table border="1" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="border-collapse: collapse" bordercolor="#111111" width="1%">
<tr>
<td width="100%">
<p align="center"><object codebase="http://download.divx.com/webplayer/stage6/windows/DivXBrowserPlugin.cab" height="368" width="640" classid="clsid:67DABFBF-D0AB-41fa-9C46-CC0F21721616">
<param name="_cx" value="16933">
<param name="_cy" value="9737">
<embed type="video/divx" src="http://video.stage6.com/{TEXT}/.divx" pluginspage="http://go.divx.com/plugin/download/" showpostplaybackad="false" custommode="Stage6" autoplay="false" height="368" width="640" /></object>

<a target="_blank" href="http://www.divx.com/">You will need DivX to see the above</a></td>
</tr>
</table>
</center>

Here is YouTube BBCode tag that can handle various subdomains
(http://youtube.com, http://uk.youtube.com, http://www.youtube.com, etc.)
without need to modify clip url or to extract clip ID:

BBCode usage:

Code: Select all

[youtube]http://{TEXT}youtube.com/watch?v={IDENTIFIER}[/youtube]
HTML replacement:

Code: Select all

<object width="425" height="350">
	<param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/{IDENTIFIER}"></param>
	<param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param>
	<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/{IDENTIFIER}" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed>
</object>
To see it in work, check here.

It would be nice if we could be able to use conditional/control structures in HTML replacement, why not?

unfortunately its very hard to understand what it is your asking for?

you want to display a web page inside your post rather than linking to it?

do you mean by using an <iframe> html tag?

Spoilers and mature content

Post by MapleMario »

Recently, somebody posted a joke that wasn't for young people in my forums, so I made a custom BBCode called [mature] which basically hides the text and has a link to show it. Thereupon I also made something called spoiler which essentially does the same thing with a few differences. I would suggest making something of the sort built-in to the next release candidate.

Mature code:

Code: Select all

[mature={NUMBER}]{TEXT}[/mature]
Replacement:

Code: Select all

<a href="javascript:void(0)" onClick="document.getElementById('mature').style.backgroundColor='white';">Show this content (ONLY IF YOU ARE {NUMBER} YEARS OLD)</a><br /><span style="border: solid 1px grey; background-color: black; color: black;" id="mature">{TEXT}</span>
Notes: I know this is weak since you cannot have more than one box on the page using this method, but it is merely a template. You might want to incorporate it into an external script.

Spoiler code:

Code: Select all

[spoiler]{TEXT}[/spoiler]
Replacement:

Code: Select all

<a href="javascript:void(0)" onClick="document.getElementById('spoiler').style.backgroundColor='white';">Show the spoiler</a><br /><span style="border: solid 1px grey; background-color: black; color: black;" id="spoiler">{TEXT}</span>
Notes: Same as "mature."

It would be really cool if you added this in. phpBB3 rocks btw. Thanks for reading!

This is the exact purpose of the custom BBCode feature -- to allow you to add things like that if you so want them. That's also the exact reason they won't be added as stock features -- since you yourself can add them at your whim. You may also want to post these in the Custom BBCode thread.

Edit: This was originally in response to the post above in its original incarnation (a separate topic)

What does the BBCode [you] do? Can you explain what it does? Maybe link to an example?
