Can you get to your Admin Panel? If so, click the "Purge the cache" button. If not, just delete the file from your cache using an FTP client.

Was this a phpBB related hack? If it was, you should file an incident report.

The exact same thing has happened to my site phBB3 board. I restored everything I could from a backup but when a user clicks on a topic I get:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in ../FORUMS/cache/tpl_prosilver_viewforum_body.html.php on line 166

I tried deleting everything in the cache starting with tpl_prosilver_

But then I get:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in ../FORUMS/includes/template.php(166) : eval()'d code on line 166

So I restored all the include PHP files in the phpBB3\includes folder. Then I get the above error again!

I also tried logging in as the Administrator but get:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected '}' in ../FORUMS/cache/ctpl_admin_overall_header.html.php on line 182

When I delete that file and retry I get the same.

How can I fix this?

Have you edited overall_header.tpl? Especially check any IF or BEGIN statements, that might not be closed...

Best try uploading a new one from a fresh pack and then purge the cache(delete the whole content of the folder or use the button in the acp)

Could you try uploading all the files from a clean installation? If you have MODs installed this will erase them from the code and you will have to manually add them in again.

If that doesn't work, run an ANALYSE in phpmyadmin to check for any DB errors.

Delete the whole folder or just it's contents?

OK. Delete everything in the cache folder. Still getting:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in ../FORUMS/cache/tpl_prosilver_viewforum_body.html.php on line 166. That's the last line of the file. By the way, any idea why this is saying parse error on line 166? Also. Where is this file anyway? I do not see it in:
phpBB-3.0.RC5.zip

Any other help would be appreciated!

OK. I think it's working now. I removed the entire includes folder and reinstalled fresh from the full install (phpBB-3.0.RC5.zip) package ... THEN cleared the entire cache folder AGAIN and now the errors are gone.

WHAT A NIGHTMARE!
I've been trying to fix this for 5 hours now! WHHHHEEEWWW!

Thanks to all that helped!
