Running script to rebuild search index from command line

Post by willdashwood » Tue Oct 02, 2007 4:42 pm

Hi

I'm doing a test run through every step involved in the migration of the phpBB2 forum from one php4/MySQL4 VPS to another php5/MySQL5 VPS. I'm also taking the opportunity to upgrade to phpBB3 at the same time, as it kills two birds with one stone. I would be upgrading later anyway so might as well do it while the site will be down. Secondly, the search index became corrupt on the old forum and I never got round to rebuilding it.

I'm quite pleased that phpBB3 has the ability to rebuild that search index built in. However, it is really slow and I was wondering if there was a way to run the process from the command line and if that would speed things up or not? Has anyone managed to do it? I have about 170,000 posts to index.

Many thanks!

Will

P.S. Version 3 is pretty amazing! Well done to everyone involved.

I aslo need this to run from command line if someone could help.
It took me almost three days to rebuild search index of around 300000 posts from ACP.
