conversion prefix help

My install went fine.

I'm trying to get the conversion from 2.0.22 to work.

The error i'm getting is:

Code: Select all

The table prefix needs to be the one used by the software you are converting from.
ยป Specified table prefix was phpbb_.
I'm pretty sure that is the orignal phpbb prefix. so whta would the problem be??

Thanks!

Check the config.php file in your phpBB2 directory to be sure. :)

You can check the info you're entering with the config.php file from your phpBB2 installation.

Just to confirm, you must have both phpBB2 and 3 installed for this to work.

You must have phpBB2 installed as a working forum.
The config.php file from that installation has the info the converter is looking for.

Trust me, either 2 or 3 WILL NOT work if config.php is missing or empty. ;)

That is a 100% crucial file. A forum doesn't work if there's nothing in it.
Daft question but, are you sure you're looking at the right file?

You must be using some premodded version or even another forum system because phpBB simply won't work without that file.

ok godaddy had some protection on the file so it couldnt get read.. I have the file now.

Code: Select all

$table_prefix = 'phpbb_';
Thats the same from what the phpBB3 error says... so why the problem?

are the permissions not set right for this file? or something?
