can I run the autoupdater with my modded board with subsilver2 or not? or do I have to do it manually?

RC5 - RC7 ?
You can use the auto updater. It will let you know of any conflicts and you can then attempt to merge the files. If it is unable to merge the files, it will give you the option of just overwriting them, or leaving them alone (so you can do it yourself). Make sure you make backups before running the update

please help
Is this RC6 or 7? Do you have any MODs installed?

I ran into this problem myself and the only real solution is to overwrite functions.php with a fresh RC7 copy. If you have modified the file, you will need to reapply the changes to the RC7 copy.

I had the same problem.
My mistake was that I copied the files functions_content.php and the hook map to my includes map.
When I deleted this files the update was running.
Just try it.

Alright, I understand lots of people are having invalid form errors. I tried RC7 too and got the same errors. I've also read it has something to do with templates.
So what are we supposed to do to make it work again?

You can use either prosilver or subsilver2 that came with RC7
Or search the 3.0.x Styles Forums for RC7 compatible styles.

There you will find:
1) An explanation
2) A fix that will let you enter the administration panel
3) A link to a list of all template changes

I'm not sure how to make it any clearer.

I backed up the database before I did this update. The update went to crap and crashed the board hard. I slicked it and reinstalled RC7 clean. How do I get that RC5 database imported into RC7?

Which part didn't help? You're saying that you're not able to get into the administration panel, but that post contains an explanation and fix.

Drop the tables created by the fresh install and restore your backup instead. Then run install/database_updater.php to update the database schema to RC7 standards.

I'm going to close this and split it off since it's turning into chaos. Please start individual topics about your specific problems.
