Browser issues

Post by DudeWoofie » Fri Nov 09, 2007 5:56 pm

Members on my board using IE and Firefox 4.0 are not able to see any post content yet they can see the forums and threads. Firefox 5.0 users are having no problems.

What could possibly cause this? I have had everybody clear their cache and reboot but still nada. Thoughts?

I get a loan. Get an approve/eligible through Fannie Mae. Not a pretty loan scenario at all. Just think of the ugliest loan you can think of. Get it approved with stips, then the lender(Homecomings) turns it down. What the hell am I supposed to do? It is what it is.
I see content >>> Firefox version 2.0.0.9

Firefox versions 4 and 5 ! I am on the latest one.

Yeah, Jim, the latest Firefox works just dandy. But IE isn't allowing the individual posts to be seen. Never had an issue before.

I changed the code on a Vistaprint ad I have on the site last night (just swapped out an old ad for a new one) and this morning I have the Internet Explorer issue. Yes, I purged the cache after inserting the new code. Could that have something to do with it?

Oh, I see what you're saying; yeah, Firefox 2.0.0.9 is the latest. When I look at 'Who is online' on my board it shows their browser as Mozilla/4.0, IE6, Mozilla/5.0, etc.

Sorry for the confusion. My bad. Still can't figure out the initial problem though.

Maybe I should've posted this in Support.

Thanks, Jim.

To recap:

When I log into my site - http://brokerinsite.com - using Internet Explorer I can see the Index and Forums, but when I click on an individual thread to read the page is blank. When I log on using Firefox there is no issue at all... everything is visible as it should be. I have also been told by a member that everything is fine through Netscape, as well. Therefore it cannot be a Permissions issue (which I have already checked anyway.)

Anyone want to give me a one-way tickie out of Wits End?

Perhaps related to the ads? They must have been copied into viewforum and viewtopic slightly differently, as I see a //--> after the ad box on viewforum but not on viewtopic. (On Firefox, btw.) Maybe the way the code was added to viewtopic is making IE do something funky?

That's the only thing that makes any sense, Darcie. Lemme check - not that I really know what I'm checking for.

If I take the easy way out and just restore to a saved backup will I lose all the posts since that backup date?

(Pretty sure I know the answer to this one already.)

You want to replace unmodified files (and then remove the cached template files!). The posts are stored in the database, so this will not change them.

Well, since I have no idea what you just said I better just find where I screwed something up with the ad code! Lol

Thanks, Darcie.

So no idea why all of a sudden IE users can see everything on my board but individual posts? Have I unwantingly discovered a new mutant something-or-other? Has the earth tilted off-axis again? Has a dishonest Nigerian scammer hacked my board trying to get my bank account info to deposit the $2.3 million billion that I have waiting for me? (No offense to honest Nigerian scammers.)

Serious question- What file do I look at for the actual posts? I mean, I know it's not viewforum or viewtopic... right?
