The submitted form was invalid. Try submitting again

Post by visionquest99 » Sun Jan 06, 2008 5:22 pm

Okay me again. I was told to post here again for further support on this issue.

Your board's URL:
Version of phpBB3: gold
Was this a fresh install or a(n) update: update from phpbb2-->RC6-->Gold
Was this an install through your host? no
MODs you have installed: youtube custom bbc
When the problem started: RC7
Template(s) used: Prosilver (3.0), Anna (3.0)
Version of PHP used: 4.4.7
Database and version used: MySQL 4.1.22-standard

The error occurs on phpbb3.0 Gold with stock Prosilver. Deleted all 3rd party styles and reinstalled only Prosilver - no change. Cleared cache folder and board cache - no change. Used clear.php --no errors. The error occurs on postings and private messages. Post always goes through on second attempt. Typically occurs with posts with longer composition time. Max submit time set to 8000, minimum set to 0. Session length 18000. Persistent login yes. Session and browser validation off. Simultaneous post review set to no. Gzip compression set to no.

I have no idea how to use phpmyadmin and therefore have not checked anything in db since i started the board (approx 3yrs!). I know it only takes a second click to submit the posts but my users are getting irate :?

It appears that this problem is not due to old template files in my case. It occurs irregularly and notably with longer posts (more time). The search continues...

I have this issue also... what host are you on? I'm fairly certain it's related to a posting issue that we have as well (sometimes the post takes, sometimes not). Our host (MediaTemple) is looking into the problem - checking php environment, etc.

Ron

"The submitted form was invalid. Try submitting again"
My board is doing this too, it's hosted by ICDsoft. Subsilver2 style and no mods.
Have you resolved this on your board yet.

I resolved the issue on my board last night by setting:

Maximum time to submit forms: 7200
Minimum time to submit forms: 0

The values were nul on my board and I couldn't submit the form to change the settings in the ACP so I had to do it via phpmyadmin.

It is not the webhost. I am running RC5 with no problem. I installed the Release and I get:

The submitted form was invalid. Try submitting again.

So I followed the advice on this thread ... 7200, -1, even 9600 seconds... Nothing worked.

I was able to delete the test post, but couldn't modify the test post and cant make a new test post.

I heard RC8 was a nightmare causing major downtime. For now I am staying on RC5, and

forgeting about the release for a few months.

This error can be brought on by other things as well:

(Did you also update all your Styles to phpbb3.0 ? Then clear your board cache?)

@nexties: This has absolutely nothing to do with the phpBB3 software. I was using RC5 and it was occurring with that. I upgraded to 3.0 and still had the issue.

My host worked on this off and on - and in the end, never really told me there was a problem, although everything is back to normal. No more form submission problems.

Ron

Thanks rphMedia.

Thanks soultstice99.

soultstice99: Yes the Styles are updated. No cache is not cleared. I would go try that now, except that believe it or not. I can't login as admin. --- Doesn't matter at all, since RC5 is still up and running. I just may have to go through phpMyAdmin later and delete the cache manually, and change the theme to one of the unmodified themes like subSilver, to see what happens.

rphMedia: OK. I patched a few glitches out of RC5 and it is running very well, so I did not bother with RC6, RC7 nor RC8. For the Release, I installed in a separate directory, same database, different tables created.
The board was up with the modified theme. I just could not post, and today I could not login. Being cache related, as suggested by soultstice99, does make good sense, and so does switching the theme to an unmodified theme. Two good suggestions.

I may go in and find the php file where that error is handled and patch it so that it does not puke and see where we are from there. I don't care for the fact that phpBB3 discontinued the option to allow HTML tags.
So maybe something cool will come out of this in due course.

NOTE TO SITE ADMIN: Absolutely no tech support is being requested on a modified theme. Afterall, the board is up and running on RC5, so no tech support is even required. It is only mentioned here for the sake of conversation, and with all due respect to the forum rules and regulations.

RC8 is not the latest release, it has gone Gold, with the release of phpBB 3.0.0. You can clear the cache through FTP be removing all the files in the cache folder except for the .htaccess file and the index.html file. This error comes from the tokens that were added to all the forms for session checking. If the theme is not updated to RC8/3.0.0, it will have issues.

I believe this has been somewhat suggested already. Grab a copy of the 3.0.0 prosilver from one of the download packages, upload it, clear out the cache folder, and if necessary, update your user's style to 1 via phpMyAdmin if you are unable to get the Admin Panel.

HTML support was removed because it is security risk. It has been replaced with the custom bbcode system, which allows you to recreate most of the HTML features.

I'm still suffering with this error. I've tried everything (believe me!) and I cant figure it out. If there is something my webhost can do, please advise what that is.
