"Please delete, move or rename the install directory before

Postby gobbledygookie » Wed Jan 23, 2008 10:20 pm

I finished installation, then it told me "Please delete, move or rename the install directory before you use your board. If this directory is still present, only the Administration Control Pane (ACP) will be accessible". So I tried to rename the installation folder - no help. I tried to rename the phpBB folder - no help. I tried to delete the installation folder - no help. I tried to delete the phpBB folder - no help. What's wrong here?

There is a folder called "install", that is the one it wants you to rename/delete.

Yes, that's what I mean by "installation folder", the "install" folder - that's what I tried to rename/delete!

Maybe your permissions (CHMOD) are set as write only.

gobbledygookie wrote:(...) Now I'm always led into "Index of /phpBB3" whenever I try to come back using the /phpBB3 address

I didn't understand what you meant but english is not my lang so, could be just me.

[Edit]: Ooops! Sorry, I meant CHMOD as READ only, obviously.

I tried to reinstall. Same problem.

Let me show you:

See? The "install" directory has been turned into "nevermindthis" to not interfere.

See? Still same problem.

Try something for me....actually delete the folder, not just rename it :)

AHA!!!!!!! YES!!! WORKING!!!!! FUNCTIONING!!!!!! SO HAPPY!!!!

It turns out it recreates the install folder after I rename it! Well, I deleted that and the renamed folder and viola!

"Rename" shouldn't even be there if it's not working! Thank you though!

I found an /install directory at \AC Web Ultimate Repack\Server\htdocs\forum\install. Renaming that one seemed to do the trick for me...
