Disabling Search for Guests

Post by ywang98 »

I did a quick search here but didn't find it. Please help.

I run a private board. I was able to set permission to forums so that they don't show up for guests or anyone until they are let in. However, I was able to hit the "advanced search" link and see one of my forums showed up in the search option section.

Is there a way to disable the entire search option for non-users?

Thank you.

Sure. Go to the ACP -> "Users and Groups" tab -> "Groups' Permissions" and select "guests" from the drop-down list of groups. Hit "submit", and on the next page select "User permissions" and hit "go". Below that, you'll see a link that says "Advanced permissions". Click that, and click on the tab that says "Misc" - select "no" for "can search board", and hit "Apply permissions". Easy ;)

Thank you!

I just need to get used to the new software. A lot of features comes with some learning curve! Thanks again.
