Change PM Settings

Post by hbandali »

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to change all the users settings so that they receive a pop-up when they have a PM. It is set to "no" for all users, how can I go in and change for all users globally?

Thanks!

You would have to change it in the database. A query like this will set the show popup option for all users to "Yes".

Code: Select all

UPDATE phpbb_users SET user_notify_pm = '1';

Thanks for the reply!

That query just changes the "notify user" setting, not the "pop up" one. Anyone know what the query for the pop ups is?

Thanks!

That has a value of 1024 in user_options....

Code: Select all

UPDATE phpbb_users SET user_options = user_options + 1024 where user_options < 1024;

How can I set this up so that whenever a new user is created, it gives that user this setting as well, rather than me having to go and change it everytime?

Couldnt you also just change this in the database? By going in and editing user_options default value from 895 to 1919?

Thanks!

I came here to find an answer to this also... glad I'm not the only one who wanted that. Maybe next time there will be an option in the ACP to set this default for every user when a new account is created.

This post tell you how to set the default value for new users:

This one corrects it for the old users... So what is left?

Nothing, i just merely asked if you could instead just change in the database. By going in and editing user_options default value from 895 to 1919. This would save a template edit... but i wasn't sure if it would work that way or not.

No.
The default value in the database is only used when the value is not set for an INSERT, which is not the case here.... The value is set to 895 in the insert statement.
