Log in Problems - New Massive log in problems

Post by Scorpiuscat » Sun Mar 30, 2008 3:21 am

Your board's URL: http://www.jonja.net
Version of phpBB3: 3.0
Was this a fresh install or a(n) update/upgrade/conversion (please be specific)? Fresh install, but used BigDump to upload a large converted Database (Database was converted using Easyphp and Bigdump on my computer )
Was this an install through your host? No
MODs you have installed: None
When the problem started: As soon as the board launched

Additionally, you may wish to provide the following (where applicable)
Template(s) used: X-treme, Prosilver, Glacier
Language(s) used: English
Version of PHP used: 4.4.8
Database and version used: MySQL version 5.0.45

Cookie Settings:
Cookie domain: .jonja.net
Cookie name: phpbb3_k1n41
Cookie path: /

Firefox users complain that either they cant get logged in or they wont stay logged in.

Some report getting a successful log in message and then the board goes back to the user not being logged in (A vicious circle).

Some report success getting logged in after deleting all cookies related to the board only to have the same problems when they come back at a later time.

I have reduced the Session IP validation setting but it does not help.
I have disabled Validate browser but it did not help

If this a problem with phpBB 3.0 or is there some easy solution?

Thank you

Try changing the cookie name to something different and see if that helps any.... If it doesn't try clearing the phpBB sessions tables in phpMyAdmin. Here's how to do it...go to phpMyAdmin -> select your database -> click the SQL tab and paste these commands in:

Code: Select all

TRUNCATE TABLE phpbb_sessions;
TRUNCATE TABLE phpbb_sessions_keys;
Make a full database backup first just to be safe.

Thanks for the ideas.

Can you rename the cookie to whatever? For example, can I name it jonjanet_cookie?

I am stuck in the eternal log in loop I have seen people complaining about.

I log in and it says "You have been successfully logged in." and then the page refreshes and I am logged out.

I have deleted all cookies several times and I still cant get logged in.

First off, this is a huge problem got phpbb 3.0, I have seen other threads complaining about this and second, how do I get logged in to my own site?

Its pretty bad when the admin cant get logged in.Please visit my Sci-Fi Website

Its worse than I thought. I have tried different browsers and different compters and still the same thing....eternal log in loop from hell.

Please tell how to get back into my own boards?

I checked my error log in Cpanel and there is this:

Code: Select all

[Wed Apr 02 17:48:33 2008] [warn] RewriteCond: NoCase option for non-regex pattern '-f' is not supported and will be ignored.
I have no idea if this even related

Tried that and nothing changed, still cannot log in.

Here are my cookie settings in the database:

cookie_domain .jonja.net
cookie_name jonjanet_cookie
cookie_path /
cookie_secure 0

Ideas?

Its definitly a cookie expireing problem.

Once you disable cookies on your browser, you can log back on.

But i dont see where you set the cookie expiration time in ACP, i would rather not expire at all.

Anyoen know how to set this?

Oh. I see what is happening....
Your servers clock is an hour off.
It says it is UTC-7 (DST), but yet the time is actually UTC-6 (DST)

I set the server time back one hour.

I still cant get logged in with cookies enabled in Internet Explorer.

I can however get logged in with Firefox now with cookies enabled.

I have deleted all cookies out of IE, but I still get the login/log out loop.

OK I tracked this down to this:

If you go to the forums using www.jonja.net/forums you get stuck in the login/Log out loop hell

If you go to the forums just using jonja.net/forums all works as it should.

Why does the www jack everything up? And how do I get rid if this problem?
