What's so hard about releasing code changes? If it's so easy for people to generate their own diff files why not save folks the time and offer it for them? I can see their argument, however this is free software so you can't get too upset if they're forcing a new standard.

I would like to see the Code Changes package seperate for ver.3 also.

The update package will no doubt work for those with vanilla boards but as I have just checked with the update package I have over 58 file conflicts. To go through every one to find whats changed and then download the resulting files and upload them into their respective places only to find there are still conflicts or errors is a waste of time.

At least with the old method if there were errors it was easy enough to go back through the change file and retrace all changes.

Im now using the Patch File and using it as a guide for manual changes.

I got to [ Show differences/conflicts ]

i see the Modified files and the Added files. But how or where do i find the Conflict ?
Im looking in the window Viewing file differences. i tryed side by side / inline / Unified diff

I'd like to see the code changes as well. I have a mod that has a bug preventing the automatic upgrade from working properly, which prevents me from using the update.

seems more and more people want this, perhaps we could have volunteers to do it, each time...I`d be happy to offer services perhaps break it down,

someone does template files only, someone does includes, someone does root? etc..

Yeah that tool appears to do the job, although not tested to see if reliable, if anyone is interested I produced a set of code changes using this from 3.0.0 -> 3.0.1 and the output can be found here, be warned they are huge ;)

Well actually it was lefty who pointed the mod out and evil<3 who wrote it. so that simply means I am the person who used it (not making me that great) Take note of my warning that I have not tested to see if the changes it produces are accurate. My actual advise if you are going to use them is them use the autoupdater after to check the files are updated correctly. I am rather shocked just how many changes there have been ......it is a large code change list. Thus might be better using the autoupdater and only use the code changes to do the files where there are conflicts

oh P.S. i had to rename file. The file name you got now 3.0.0>3.0.1_codechanges.txt In windows XP PRO. I get error "The above file name is invalid." I had to remove the ">"

Hello,

yesterday I updated from 3.0.0 to 3.0.1

This night somebody had these errors:

Hi

Having a very heavily modded board I'm disappointed/worried to read that there will no longer be a manual method of applying codechanges but to be fair to the PHPBB3 developers I will try the automatic update facility before deciding if I can continue to use phpbb3.
Having used phpbb since its initial development way back when I would be very unhappy to be forced to end this relationship.
Fingers crossed the update is successful.

But my advice would be to use the auto-updater and only use this set of changes for editing the files which come up with conflicts
