Global forum permissions?

Post by Twill » Fri Apr 11, 2008 8:21 pm

Your board's URL: www.conquerclub.com/forum
Version of phpBB3: 3.0.1
Was this a fresh install?Fresh 3.0.0 install with conversion of V2 database, upgraded to 3.0.1
Was this an install through your host? No, we did it
MODs you have installed: Custom integration into site, last topic title mod, posting template mod.
When the problem started: Always

In phpBB2 it seemed much easier to assign global permissions to usergroups.

Is there a way in phpBB3 to create a usergroup and a forum permission role/mask and then easily apply that role to that usergroup for all forums that will ever exist, regardless of if new forum permissions are copied or created from scratch?

For reference, we have probably 50-60 usergroups and 70-80 forums/subforums on our board (each usergroup gets their own sub-forum).

Thanks to anyone who can help.

No.
Each forum has to have permissions set separately, but you have the option of copying permissions from another forum when you create a forum.

Annoying when you inherited about 60 boards from a conversion which all need permissions re-set :)

Does it not bother anyone else that there is no way to set simple permissions?

It seems like they just removed the "basic" option from phpBB2 and replaced them all with "advanced"
