Is the table actually present in the database is your browse using phpmyadmin?

No it doesn't appear to be there, there are 56 tables listed though which I believe is the correct number?

Two tables list 'users' in the name, '_acl_users' and '_user_group'

There should be more tables than that, have you restored a database backup at some point? Have you been messing the database for any reason.

No I haven't accessed it at all recently, I guess a backup database is needed to repair this?

Well yes if you have a valid recent database backup, the question though is how did half of your database go missing?

How many tables should there be?

Ow not quite half then, it seems my other site databases are corrupted/affected too.

if you are missing the users table it might as well be all of them..... check with the host to make sure the server has not been compromised in some way.

glad you got a response from them as to what the issue is, I hope now that your hosts have a raid configuration and make regular backups so they can restore your data as it should be :)
