Users login and are immedietly told theyre not

Post by amochohan »

Your board's URL: www. t r i m c r a f t.co.uk/forum
Version of phpBB3: 3.0.1
Was this a fresh install or a(n) update/upgrade/conversion (please be specific)? RC8 > 3.0.1
Was this an install through your host? No
MODs you have installed: Prime link
When the problem started: today

Users are trying to login which goes through fine, but then theyre immedietly sent back to the page they were looking at where they appear to be logged out and must log in again causing a vicous circle.

Obviously this is an urgent problem as without logging in users just cant use the site!

Login issues are usually cookie related.
What cookie settings do you have?

There's also hundreds of topics going through here every hour. Sometimes they odd one here and there gets missed. We also have a search function which might have given you a little help while you waited.

Cookie Domain: .trimcraft.co.uk
Cookie Name: trimcraft
Cookie Path: /
Secure: Disabled

The error log hasn't reported any problems.

I've tried truncating the sessions and session keys table.

They look ok.

Put an extra character at the end of the cookie name. That will force everyone to get a new cookie.

Will this mean everyone will need to clear their cache and cookies again though?

It should just ignore the cookie they already have and give them a brand new one.

I assume this means that everyone will also need to re-login?

Please see if you have the same issue as I reported in my posting today (phpbb_Sessiosn table missing a field).

Could be a www. problem. Users may log onto http://www.yourdomain.com and are then redirected to yourdomain.com thus voiding the cookie. I had this problem with my domain. :?

The . at the start of the cookie domain should address that.

I just wanted to let you know that I had the same problemx and when I added the extra letter to the Cookie Name, it fixed it. Hopefully, that will work for you, Amo!
